Dog Obedience - 6 Tips For Training Your Dog

Click Here To Potty Train Your Dog Now!

It can be a wonderful thing having a dog in the family. Just remember it is not a family to a dog it's a pack and you are the boss the Alpha. Your dog will follow your lead so be clear in your commands and caring in your demeanor.

1. Avoid confusing your dog as to who is its trainer. Remember different people use different methods when training dogs, even the slightest difference in tone of command or temperament can mean different things to a dog.

2. You should reward. Good responses deserve reward, but do not be surprised if that response is slow coming, as dogs are not as humans, words are not a dogs chosen language, it takes time and patience and repetition.

3. Try to teach one command at a time; do not move on until your dog understands what is wanted of it. This will also strengthen your dogs understanding of you and it will respond more favourably with each new command. Remember, reward good response.

4. When training your dog using voice commands be cheerful in yourself, your dog can feel your temperament. Dogs respond better to a low firm coaxing voice. If you are loud, aggressive or sharp your dog will be startled and not respond as you intended.

5. When training your dog try not to train in the same place every time, change your training location, go to the park or the garden. You do not want a situation where your dog only responds to your commands when you are in the house.

6. We all like to socialise with your friends, so it is with dogs they too can form friendships with other dogs. But be firm if your dog starts to get too excited and play up and not respond to you. Be firm but not aggressive. Above all be patient, persistent, caring and firm. You are the leader.

How to Potty Train Your Puppy

Click Here To Potty Train Your Puppy or Dog!

One of the first hurdles to overcome when becoming the owner of a new puppy, is learning how to potty train them. This skill will keep you and your adorable new family member in harmony and will save you from a lot of frustration. It is actually a lot easier to teach a puppy to be potty trained than to train a child. A puppy is quite predictable as to when they will need to empty their bowels or bladder. When you learn how to predict they are ready to "go", you can teach them where the most acceptable place to do this is.

It is quite usual for a puppy to empty their bladder when they wake up from a nap. Puppies tend to nap a lot, as their bodies are growing all the time, just like human babies. Using this knowledge it is recommended that you to take your puppy outside or put him on some newspaper as soon as he wakes. In doing this, it will teach him that these are acceptable places for him to empty his bladder freely.

Another predictable time that young pups empty their bladders, is immediately after they have been playing hard. When he has finished a game of chasing a ball or using a lot of energy, this is the time to take him outside or put him on the newspaper. It is also predictable that a puppy will need to "go" immediately after eating a meal. Feed them once in the morning and once in the evening. Again, take them outside or put them on the newspaper after eating and they will soon learn that this is where they must go to the toilet.

Puppies and dogs can understand body and sign language. By putting your dog outside or on the newspaper, this is a sign he will understand and respond to. As long as you pay attention to when he is predictably due to "go", you should have him trained without too much mess.

Secrets of House Training Your Dog

Click Here to Potty Train Your Dog!

If you have ever wanted to get a dog, then you should know that there are secrets to housetraining a dog, too. Some of these are easier than others, but they can be very successful if you are willing to be diligent with the training. All dogs are different and some will inevitably learn faster than others. That is not to say that you should only buy smarter dogs, because if you exercise the right discipline and patience any dog can be trained.

One great method is associating a word, such as "potty" or "outside", with your trips out. If you get the dog used to hearing one particular word and go to the door that you would like for them to use at the same time, they will learn. Every dog loves association and when they can associate a task with a command you are teaching them.

Some people use the kenneling method to train. This is where you put the dog in a confined area until it is time to go out. The dog will instinctively not want to go in their home so they will be forced to hold it. But be careful with this technique. A dog does not know that you are taking them out soon so you have to start out with frequent trips and slowly increase the time in between trips.

There are some that rely on paper training to teach their canine. This is when you put paper down and teach the dog to go on the paper. Then you shorten the distance to the door with each trip until the dog is at the door. This is not a very reliable method since it involves catching the dog every time they have to go. If you are not there when they are ready they may not associate going on the paper. This method requires more time and attention that most people are willing to give.

These are some of the secrets of housetraining a dog. The important thing to remember is that they have to learn the same way each of us learned everything we know- by repetition and patience.
